In my greatest accomplishment as a budgeter of my own attention I managed to skip this entire series. The entire climate series. From the pilot to this ending. Almost 30 years of drama. Skipped it.
With Climate Doomerism fading, AI Doomerism will become as the central organizing catastrophe on the Left. It justifies their takeover of the economy and especially the information space. And it has enough pseudoscience and Hollywood storytelling behind it to seem compelling.
Hard to blame humans for their carbon footprint when you are saying AI needs vast quantities of power and water resources.
Scam is no longer useful or defensible.
Climate monomania was a massive distraction from the environmentalism I love and understand and know to be effective, which is about waterways, ecosystems, animals, and us.
I hope we can get back to that now.
Today, Bill Gates admitted that pushing climate doomerism was a mistake.
: “That shift to common sense is welcome, but it comes after decades of fearmongering that harmed young people, stalled development, and punished dissenting scientists.”
In 2019 Bill Gates was saying that we had to stop cows from farting, eat fake meat, and get to net zero emissions globally to prevent climate catastrophe.
If you questioned any of it, you were called an uneducated, science-denying caveman.
Today Gates said that we will never stop the climate from changing and that other things (such as feeding people) are just as important as emissions reduction. Imagine that.
