Fake news from 1969, 1975, and 1947

More fun from Tony Heller.

1969 : New York Times Predicted An Ice Free Arctic And An Ice Age Three Days Apart

In 1969, the fake news New York Times predicted an ice-free Arctic by 1989, and three days later predicted a new ice age.
And:

New York Times – Recycling The Same Fake News For 70 Years

Seventy years ago this week, the New York Times said Greenland was melting and we were all going to drown. In fact, the situation was so serious that we needed to send money to an international agency of scientists to study it.
But not to worry, 28 years later they said we were all going to freeze to death and get buried by expanding ice. The solution was (of course) to send money to scientists.

The difference between climate and weather

More from Tony:

The Difference Between Weather And Climate

The graph explains the climate science definition of weather vs climate.
For climate scientists, a three year California drought which suits their funding needs is climate, but 1,200 years of drought history is data that needs to be erased or altered.

Fake news about droughts and CO2

My students always think "global warming" will cause "more droughts" because this is what they have been taught and what they see in the media.

It's a false narrative, of course.

Tony Heller gives a good example here: https://realclimatescience.com/2017/05/us-drought-at-historic-low-levels/

US Drought At Historic Low Levels

Thirty years ago, James Hanse told Congress that global warming was going to make droughts worse.
Ten years ago, the IPCC confirmed this.
Joe Romm announced the Southwest Permanent Drought In 2011.
US drought conditions are currently near a record low, with less than 5% of the country affected by drought. CO2 is above 400 PPM.
But in 1934, with CO2 less than 310 PPM, three fourths of the US was experiencing drought,
Climate scientists declare great certainty in their models and forecasts, even though the are wrong nearly 100% of the time.

California "permanent drought"

The media likes to extrapolate from a couple of data points if it can portray imminent doom. The NYTimes and the Enquirer are both experts at this.

Here's an example: https://realclimatescience.com/2017/05/follow-up-on-the-california-permanent-drought/

Follow Up On The California Permanent Drought

It has been one year since fake governor Jerry Brown and the fake news New York Times announced the California permanent drought.
Since then, California has had their sixth wettest May to April on record, and record amounts of snow. There has been no trend in California precipitation since 1895.
h/t to Don Penim for the snow video. Fake climate policy is based on superstition, junk science, politics and fraud.

Hot Cinco de Mayo

Another classic from Tony Heller.

Hot Cinco de Mayo

“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.”
― George Orwell, 1984
On this date in 1940, there were 100 degree temperatures in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. About 25 degrees warmer than today’s forecasts.
On this date in 1952, it was 90 degrees in Michigan, Minnesota and Montana, about 30 degrees warmer than today’s forecast.
People believe fake news about global warming, because they don’t know how hot it was in the past. And the reason people don’t know how hot the past was, is because government agencies erase the hot past. Just like Orwell predicted.
NASA not only hides the past heat, but they regularly alter data far outside their own 95% confidence error bars – shown in blue.
Catastrophic global warming is the biggest scam in science history.
